Future is looking for a Staff Writer to create high quality editorial for How it Works magazine and its website.
As Staff Writer you’ll write accurate, lively and accessible content that is enjoyable to read for the magazine and website.
You’ll research and learn about new subjects quickly and be able to speak about them in an authoritative tone.
You’ll conduct interviews with scientists, engineers and researchers, and establish good relationships with scientific bodies, book publishers and PR contacts to enable you to produce high quality editorial.
You’ll generate and develop content ideas and angles, as well as develop ideas for design treatments and box-outs.
You’ll assist with the magazine’s social media presence and contribute copy, ideas and assistance across all of Future’s science coverage.
You’ll have a genuine passion for science and have a qualification in science, journalism or any closely related discipline.
You’ll have a proven writing ability and capable of creating quick, accurate and entertaining copy.
You’ll have the ability to research stories, finding interesting and unique angles and have a willingness to build a contact book of people in working in science and technology.
You’ll have strong organisation and time management skills and able to work on your own initiative to deadlines.
You’ll ideally have experience of using social media and a web CMS.
